Occupational First Aid Level 1 (WEFA)

Learn more about the first aid requirements for work places in BC!  This one day course provides you with the practical skills for managing emergencies such as: choking, cardiac arrest, medical emergencies, spinal injuries, wound care and common workplace injuries. You will gain experience with the documentation process for WorkSafeBC and the confidence with the First Aider Role, including specific skills such as use of and AED and CPR or adults.

  • The EMS system
  • Check, Call, Care
  • Airway emergencies
  • Breathing and circulation emergencies
  • AED and CPR for adults
  • First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Wound care
  • Head and spine injuries
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Sudden medical emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Poisons

Duration:

  •  7 hours (excluding breaks)

Instructor:

  • Red Cross First Aid Instructor

Completion Requirements:

  • 100% attendance
  • Successful skills demonstration
  • 70% passing grade on written exam

Certification:

  • valid for 3 years
  • adheres to WorkSafeBC legislation
